Don't let this color fool you! It may look like a stout or porter, with
a dark center and reddish hues on the side, but it drinks light and
refreshing like a pale German Lager. Schwarzbier's (Dark Lager)
are typically made using a variety of specialty malts, including
roasted and black malt, the trick is creating something that looks
like it will drink heavier, but drinks light. We used all German
malts and hops to achieve our unique flavor. The color is derived
from a variety of black/roasted malts, but special mash
techniques used allowed us to gain color but limit roast
characteristics. The aroma is malty, rye bread, with a hint of stone
fruit. The flavor is biscuit and caramel forward with a subtle hint
of roast, plum, and blackberry. Deceivingly light and refreshing
and at a reasonable 4.5% alcohol it is easy to drink more than
one.
Cheers!
